In 2023, Türkiye will import nearly 9.5 million tons of plate products and 14 million tons HX300LAD+ZA steel of long wood products, which are likely to be mainly supplied domestically. This will not only help curb the current account deficit, but also contribute to creating industrial added value and providing additional employment. Therefore, Türkiye is expected to move towards the goal of ranking sixth in the world in 2024 and further strengthen it in 2025. Türkiye Chamber of Commerce and Commodity Exchanges Union (TOBB) said that it hoped that the steel industry could regain the status of the largest steel producer in Europe that had been abandoned in 2022 from 2024, with the long-term goal of catching up with South Korea and reaching the sixth level in the world.
